What are the different IPAF Operator Categories?
1a - Static Scissor Lift, 1b - Static Boom Lift (i.e. Van mounted, truck mounted), 3a - Mobile Scissor Lift, 3b - Mobile Boom Lift

Do you run Health & Safety courses at the weekend?
We can run weekend and out of hours Health & Safety courses on request. These are run at our training centres or onsite, however there is an additional charge for these courses.

Do you run IPAF courses on a Saturday?

Do you run courses at the weekend?

What do I need to wear?
It will depend on the training you are doing. If it's a practical course you will be expected to wear appropriate clothing and PPE, this will include Hi-Vis, hard hats, work boots etc. Wear clothing that's appropriate for the course so jeans, work trousers, t-shirts are fine – however please be aware of the weather and be ready for cold or heat – coats and gloves or long-sleeves and sun protection are advised. Classroom delegates will need to be comfortable so smart casual is advised. Please refer to your joining instructions for PPE requirements.

What does IPAF 3a and 3b course cover?
IPAF 3a Operator category covers the safe use of Mobile Vertical machines generally called Scissor Lifts. The IPAF 3b Operator category covers the safe use of self-propelled booms and may also be referred to as articulated or telescopic booms.
Do you offer Chapter 8 training?
The Signing, Lighting and Guarding NRSWA course lasts for one day and can also take place as part of the five-day New Roads and Street Works course. The version of this course for Operatives is classed as Unit 2, but can also be known as Chapter 8, due to it being referred to in Chapter 8 of the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991.

If I book a course tonight and it starts tomorrow morning, how do I know where to go and what time to arrive?

You will receive an automatically generated email with all the information you need. You will also be asked to read the 'Pre Course Details' which gives you plenty of information before you get to us. Our team of trainers are there to guide you through your training, and if you need anything they will help.

What do I need to provide for a PASMA Combined (Low Level Access & Standard Towers) course at my own site?
A private classroom for the theory session; suitable for the number of delegates, with tables, chairs, power points and a wall or screen to project on to

  • Adequate indoor area for practical testing; minimum 15m2 & 6.5m height
  • Mobile aluminium access tower with minimum 4m platform height and sufficient components to erect the tower using both the 3T and Advanced Guardrail method.
  • Also required is a folding work platform and Podium Steps (1.5m) With a legible copy of the manuals for each candidate

What do I need to provide for a PASMA Towers for Users course at my own site?
A private classroom for the theory session; suitable for the number of delegates, with tables, chairs, power points and a wall or screen to project on to

  • Adequate indoor area for practical testing; minimum 15m2 & 6.5m height
  • Mobile aluminium access tower with minimum 4m platform height and sufficient components to erect the tower using both the 3T and Advanced Guardrail method. With a readable copy of the manuals for each candidate
  • Where 8 or more candidates are attending the course two towers will be required

What do I need to provide for an IPAF course at my own site?
A private classroom for the theory session; it should be a minimum of 15m2 of floor space or 2.5m2 per person, whichever is the larger. With desks, chairs, power points and a wall or screen to project on to

  • Adequate area for practical testing; minimum 20m2 - cordoned off & enough headroom to raise the machine(s) to a minimum 75% of their maximum height & 75% of the machine(s) maximum outreach. There must also be adequate room to turn the machine 90 degrees at 75% outreach (booms only)
  • All relevant machines for practical training. Please check with us if you are unsure of the machine(s) you require The MEWPS must be suitable for the environment they are being used in
  • A copy of the test certification (LOLER) for each machine and a copy of the manufacturer’s operation manual

How long after completing my NRSWA training will I receive my certificates and card?
NRSWA certificates are usually dispatched within 6 weeks after course completion. SWQR cards are usually dispatched within 12 weeks after course completion.

How long after completing my PASMA training will I receive my PASMA Card?
PASMA Cards are usually dispatched within 10 working days. Once you receive your card you are able to download a certificate from the PASMA website.

How long after completing my IPAF Operator training will I receive my certificate/licence?
IPAF ePAL is usually issued within 48 hours of completion to your ePAL APP. If you have requested a physical card/ certificate these can take up to 10 working days.

How do I get a copy of my employees IPAF card & Certificate?
Card holders can share a copy of their ePAL from the ePAL app with anyone, they simply click share and email to you.

I only received a PASMA Card, how do I get a certificate?
You can download a PASMA certificate using the certificate number on your PASMA card. Visit https://pasma.co.uk/check-a-card/

Do I have to have a digital IPAF (ePAL) licence?
No, IPAF still offers a physical printed PAL Card and certificate. If you require a PAL Card and/or certificate this will come at an additional cost, you will have the option to add this at the time of booking on our website. You can link your IPAF issued licence and get a digital version if you choose to download ePAL in the future.

What is ePAL?
ePAL is the name of IPAF's new mobile phone app through which the PAL Card, and many other operator-focused features, can be accessed.
